Funding Bid for Youth Projects

Young people in Northampton can get funding for projects if they come up with ideas that will make a positive contribution to the community.

Northampton Borough Council's Youth Forum is waiting to hear from people under the age of 19 on how Money 4 Youth funding, which will continue in the town until at least 2011, should be spent.

The forum wants to hear how the money can be spent between April 2008 and March 2009 on projects that help young people:

• enjoy;
• achieve;
• stay safe; and
• make a positive contribution.

Among the ideas so far funded have been:

• the Northampton Youth Festival;
• a mobile skate park;
• football coaching by young disabled people;
• classes on how to play the steel pans and dhol drums;
• intergenerational activities;
• street dance and drama projects; and
• YMCA bus visits to Eastfield.
