e-Clips helps you find careers and lifestyle information

Thursday, 24 November 2011 09:57

eCLIPS is an online resource which covers over 1,200 jobs and careers, as well as providing information on approximately 100 lifestyle topics.  There are several ways of finding information:

Search by A-Z Index
Select from the A-Z index to find out about careers of interest for example chef, lifeguard, teacher, plumber, hairdresser, health visitor and lots more. You can also search school subjects to find related careers such as history, maths, English, art and design.

Find by Job group
Select from a range of work categories for example, design, arts and crafts; engineering; healthcare; computers and IT; languages, information and culture and many others.  You can then look at the types of careers involved.

Search for career ideas
If you aren't sure which careers might interest you, use this method. You can select and mix factors which you like from these groups

• Qualifications - choose the level you have or expect to achieve
• Work skills - choose at least one
• School subjects
• Work settings
• People at work

You will get a list of suggestions which best match your choices, listed in the order of the number of matching factors. This shows how well each area of work matches the factors you have selected. You can cancel factors or choose more, to see how that changes the list of suggestions.

Look at General information
For advice on making choices, about jobs and courses, and also in your personal life, look at this section.

Saving and Printing Leaflets
When you open a leaflet you have the option to ‘Save’ it. You may want to save leaflets for further viewing later and you can access them by clicking on the ‘My saved leaflets’ button. You can then open them or email them. You can also print the leaflets as a print screen version, a smart PDF or a summary version.
