CRCI Health

Good health is important if you want to enjoy life to the full.

So what is a healthy lifestyle?

  • Take regular exercise. This keeps you mentally fit as well as physically fit and can help beat the blues.
  • Eat healthy foods. Highly processed foods lack nutrition and are often full of chemicals.
  • Don't smoke, take drugs or drink to excess. All these could shorten your lifespan and you may lose the ability to judge situations which could get you into a difficult situation.
  • Keep a check on your sexual health. This might be an embarrassing topic to talk about but there are plenty of organisations where you can get confidential advice.
  • Share your problems. The old phrase "A problem shared is a problem halved" is so true! Talk to friends, family, teacher or Connexions Direct for confidential advice. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

What else?

  • Make sure you're registered with a doctor (GP).
  • You should have your teeth checked by a dentist every six months and your eyes checked by an optician every two years.
  • Get advice on contraception from your doctor or nearest Family Planning Clinic.
  • Know the number of NHS Direct in case you need health advice out of normal working hours - 0845 4647.
