International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate qualification is made up of six different areas of study:

  • Language;
  • Second Language;
  • Individuals and Societies;
  • Experimental Sciences;
  • Mathematics and Computer Sciences; and
  • The Arts.

Within each are of study there can be up to 80 different subjects to chose from.

In addition to these six study areas there is also a compulsory element requiring students to study the theory of knowledge, write an extended essay, and take part in social programmes.

The International Baccalaureate is a challenging and rigorous qualification which is internationally recognised and valued.

Different countries may offer their own version. This qualification is not widely available in schools and colleges.
