You might be eager to get out in the real world and earn some of your own money and you can leave school at 16 and get a job, but there are many limitations on where you can have a job because of your age. It might seem great to have a high salary at 16, but with no training, you are missing out on a qualification and you might find you can't progress in your work, and it is difficult to find another job, because you have no qualifications.

When you apply for a job you need to ask what training or opportunities are available for you to gain additional qualifications. Nowadays, it is important to gain skills and qualifications and to develop these whenever possible. One thing to note is that you may be entitled to paid time off for study or training during normal working hours.
