If you're a teenage parent, you don't have to try to cope on your own. Your GP and health visitor are there to support you and there are other groups you can also turn to for help, advice and support. You don't have to put your future completely on hold. Speak to your Connexions Personal Adviser about the range of education, training and career opportunities that are still open to you.

Care to Learn

Homestart

Homestart is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress in their own homes.

Surestart

Surestart operates in St James, Kingsheath, and Spencer. It offers health services, family support, high quality play and childcare to families with children under the age of four. Northampton Surestart 01604 585219.

Surestart also works in the Hemingwell, Queensway and Kingsway estates in Wellingborough from their base in Penrith Drive, Wellingborough NN8 3XL. tel 01933 671700. Amongst the services offered are Parenting Support, Groups for under 4s and their families, access to a toy library, creche facilities, breastfeeding support, speech and language advice and information on childcare options.
