Racism

A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or by any other person.

Racist attacks are not only against the law, they also create tension, divide people and communities. They can destroy people's lives through no fault of their own. Everyone has the right to go about his or her life without fear or intimidation.

Don't suffer in silence. Contact the local Racial Equality Council Tel: 01604 603868 (if not, contact the Commission for Racial Equality in London, Tel: 020 7828 7022 www.cre.gov.uk).

Contact the police too, with a friend for support. You can also phone the victim supportline Tel: 0845 3030 900. If you're scared and feel you have no-one to turn to, phone ChildLine on 0800 1111 - it's free!
