Taxes
The income tax system is designed so that we pay a percentage of our income in tax. The greater the income, the more tax we pay. Taxes fund Government spending on Defence, Public Order and Safety, Health, Education, Social security and Debt charges. Most people pay tax under the Pay as You Earn scheme (PAYE). Under this scheme, tax is paid in regular amounts each week or month, depending on when you are paid.
If you are in full-time employment, it is your responsibility to pay tax, but it is the responsibility of the person who employs you to calculate your tax, deduct it from your wages and pay it over to the Inland Revenue.
