Transition planning

Transition Planning means thinking about:

  • Work
  • College
  • Fun things to do like swimming, making friends, going to the pictures, talking about food and money

All young people need help and some young people may need a bit more help.

At 13, if your parents or teacher talk about a Transition Meeting, don't worry about this! At this meeting you will be able to talk with other people about what you would like to do when you leave school. One of these people, is called a Personal Advisor. They work for Connexions.

This is how they can help you:

  • They will talk with you or with your friends.
  • Listen to what you have to say.
  • Talk about colleges.
  • Talk about fun things to do.
  • Talk to your mum,dad and other people you are close to.

When you are 16 they can:

  • Help you with application forms, interviews.
  • Talk with you about what work you would like to do.
  • And don't forget talk with you about those fun things to do.

The Personal Advisor will tell you the office they work in and a number to speak with them on the phone. Don't forget they are friendly people here to help you choose what you want to do when you leave school.
