What is Connexions?

Connexions Northamptonshire is a publicly funded service providing impartial careers advice and confidential information, advice, guidance and support for all young people aged between 13 and 19. We also offer additional support for young people with learning difficulites and disabilities, up to the age of 25.

We help young people with choices about their learning, career and employment.  We also help with personal issues to prevent them from leaving education, employment or training.

How do we deliver our services?

1. Choices advisers are based in secondary and special schools, academies, further education colleges and work-based training providers.  Young people can make an appointment to see their adviser or go to drop-in sessions there.  Advisers also do assemblies, class room activities and attend parent events.
2. Advisers also work in the community, in organisations like Jobcentre Plus, libraries and voluntary agencies.
3. Our Vacancy and Recuitment Service provides telephone and on-line support for young people looking for jobs and apprenticeships.  They advise on application and job hunting skills, interview techniques, employment law and advertise vacancies.
4. Our specialist teams support schools and colleges with curriculum development, staff training, work experience and achieving the regional quality award for careers education - Career Mark 5.
5. We produce up-to-date, impartial information and resources to help with choices.  These are available on-line and as leaflets or booklets.
